Family Matters

We thought we would bring you up to speed with news regarding our family :: First of all, we are beyond excited to announce the birth of second child, a little boy, Hudson David Felix! We hope you enjoy the photos.

Amidst our joy, we find ourselves a bit tired. Jill is recovering from a C-section delivery. So prayers for a smooth and speedy recovery would be in order. Josh has been a little run down physically from lots of traveling and he is gearing up to lead the team into another school year (starting February 18th). Pray for good health and energy.

Fortunately, we have Jill’s parents, Larry and Mary Jo Chojnowski, staying with us through the month of February to help out with the little ones. What a huge blessing! Mary Jo made the long trip here despite several surgeries she’s had just prior to coming. Hopefully, she’ll continue to recover well during her stay with us. We’re excited to have them here (and I’m sure they’re excited to be around their grandchildren).

Also, just before Christmas, Josh’s family helped move his Grandpa and Grandma Felix from their home in Plymouth, Indiana to Denver, Colorado as they have experienced some decline in their health this past year and needed to be placed in a assisted care facility that is in close proximity to family. It is hard for us to be so far away at times like these.
Please pray for their overall health.

What's Happening in 2008

With great joy, we reflect on the beginning of a new Student Life movement that God brought about in Wellington during 2007. We are very excited to see what God will do this year as we continue to step out in faith and invite people to begin walking with Christ. Here’s a few things on the horizon.

As you may recall, in November we transitioned our staff team. The U.S. STINTers we had in 2007 have returned to America and we have a new batch for 2008. We also have the addition of two New Zealand staff guys, Nigel and Steve, to help us... which is awesome! Nigel is in the picture on the right. Steve isn’t as he is still finishing raising up a support team, but hopefully he’ll be joining us soon.

“Amidst the background static of life and the confusion of our culture there is one major broadcast that most people have not discovered…” “Will you Tune In?”
Tune In was a fun and successful evangelistic outreach campaign we used at the last year to engage with students on university campuses here in New Zealand. Students who filled out a brief spiritual survey for us had an opportunity to win a free MP3 music player. It surfaced many opportunities for us to share our faith and challenge students to “tune in” to God. So, we will be running the campaign again this year with hopes that it will again produce great responses. Pray for it to be successful. Pray for the hearts of students and for opportunities for us to tell them about Christ.

We desire to be a growing, dynamic, movement of students following Christ. Here in Wellington, We are depending on the Lord to raise up and develop students into Christ-centered laborers who will join with us in placing the Gospel within arm’s reach of every student, so that Jesus Christ would be known in Wellington, New Zealand, and the World. This is the vision that continues to drive us! By the end of last year, we had 56 students involved in our movement on a discipleship level. We are asking the Lord to double that number in 2008 (at least 100 students involved). We are also believing that the Lord would raise up at least 16 solid committed student leaders (8 from Victoria and 8 from Massey) by the end of the year. Another faith step for 2008 is that we can become a recognized club at Massey University (we weren't’ last year, but it didn’t stop the Holy Spirit from working and us from raising up students from that campus). Being an official club will give us greater access to the campus and students. Finally, we just invite you join with us in praying for revival in Wellington!

"ALLURE" South Island Summer Project

We were given our first opportunity to lead a summer beach for university students from all throughout New Zealand. It was a lot to plan for right after returning from our training time in the United States and switching out our staff team. Still, it was a great experience and it forced us to step out in faith as we led a team of 14 staff and 25 students. The location for the project was the popular South Island Tahunanui Beach. Over the course of two weeks, our staff and students had numerous opportunities to share the Gospel with beach-goers and people in the community.
The theme for our summer was “Allure”. This came from studying the book of Galatians and how, in the flesh, we can be allured away from the beauty of Christ by the things of this world (including religious systems), but how, by the Spirit, we can be allured (even captivated) by the mystery of Cross of Christ. After all, it is through Jesus’ faithfulness to God the Father in His life, death, and resurrection that we have the hope of salvation. So, we put our faith is in the faithfulness of Christ! How amazing is that!?
Anyhow, Beach Project is always an amazing time to see God work in the lives of the students that come and those we share with. I'll be adding some of the pictures, stats, and comments to this blog.
