We were given our first opportunity to lead a summer beach for university students from all throughout New Zealand. It was a lot to plan for right after returning from our training time in the United States and switching out our staff team. Still, it was a great experience and it forced us to step out in faith as we led a team of 14 staff and 25 students. The location for the project was the popular South Island Tahunanui Beach. Over the course of two weeks, our staff and students had numerous opportunities to share the Gospel with beach-goers and people in the community.
The theme for our summer was “Allure”. This came from studying the book of Galatians and how, in the flesh, we can be allured away from the beauty of Christ by the things of this world (including religious systems), but how, by the Spirit, we can be allured (even captivated) by the mystery of Cross of Christ. After all, it is through Jesus’ faithfulness to God the Father in His life, death, and resurrection that we have the hope of salvation. So, we put our faith is in the faithfulness of Christ! How amazing is that!?
Anyhow, Beach Project is always an amazing time to see God work in the lives of the students that come and those we share with. I'll be adding some of the pictures, stats, and comments to this blog.
