What's Happening in 2008

With great joy, we reflect on the beginning of a new Student Life movement that God brought about in Wellington during 2007. We are very excited to see what God will do this year as we continue to step out in faith and invite people to begin walking with Christ. Here’s a few things on the horizon.

As you may recall, in November we transitioned our staff team. The U.S. STINTers we had in 2007 have returned to America and we have a new batch for 2008. We also have the addition of two New Zealand staff guys, Nigel and Steve, to help us... which is awesome! Nigel is in the picture on the right. Steve isn’t as he is still finishing raising up a support team, but hopefully he’ll be joining us soon.

“Amidst the background static of life and the confusion of our culture there is one major broadcast that most people have not discovered…” “Will you Tune In?”
Tune In was a fun and successful evangelistic outreach campaign we used at the last year to engage with students on university campuses here in New Zealand. Students who filled out a brief spiritual survey for us had an opportunity to win a free MP3 music player. It surfaced many opportunities for us to share our faith and challenge students to “tune in” to God. So, we will be running the campaign again this year with hopes that it will again produce great responses. Pray for it to be successful. Pray for the hearts of students and for opportunities for us to tell them about Christ.

We desire to be a growing, dynamic, movement of students following Christ. Here in Wellington, We are depending on the Lord to raise up and develop students into Christ-centered laborers who will join with us in placing the Gospel within arm’s reach of every student, so that Jesus Christ would be known in Wellington, New Zealand, and the World. This is the vision that continues to drive us! By the end of last year, we had 56 students involved in our movement on a discipleship level. We are asking the Lord to double that number in 2008 (at least 100 students involved). We are also believing that the Lord would raise up at least 16 solid committed student leaders (8 from Victoria and 8 from Massey) by the end of the year. Another faith step for 2008 is that we can become a recognized club at Massey University (we weren't’ last year, but it didn’t stop the Holy Spirit from working and us from raising up students from that campus). Being an official club will give us greater access to the campus and students. Finally, we just invite you join with us in praying for revival in Wellington!
